2012 4-H Shooting Sports Certification Training Schedule

Shooting SportsThe schedule for the 2012 4-H Shooting Sports Certification Training has been released.

To serve as a Shooting Sports leader, 4-H leaders must complete the Youth Protection process, must be at least 18 years old, and must have participated in at least one state-level 4-H Leader Training SHOOTING SPORTS CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP in the discipline in which they are providing supervision. If an adult leader is not certified, he/she cannot provide hands-on or safety instruction without a certified leader being present. A leader may obtain certification in an additional discipline (archery, pistol, coordinator, muzzleloader, rifle [.177 pellet, .177 BB, and .22], and shotgun) by completing a certification workshop provided by 4-H certified state training team members.

For 2012, there will be three certifications offered—one Eastern, one Central and one Western. In the near future, we plan to offer the Central certification (Stevens Point) every year in the fall. Coordinator, Pistol and Muzzleloader will only be offered at the Central annual certification in addition to Archery, Rifle and Shotgun. For 2013, we will offer certification workshops in the north and south, and again offer the central certification workshop.

  • Central Area Statewide 4-H Shooting Sports Adult Certification Workshop
    • Friday, September 14 & Saturday, September 15, 2012
    • Rosholt (Friday) & Stevens Point, WI (Saturday)
    • Disciplines: Archery, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzleloader & Coordinator
    • Cost: $70
