SAFE DISPOSAL OF UNUSABLE
PESTICIDES
Whenever possible,
users of hazardous materials are strongly encouraged to use
up any substance for its intended purpose. This reduces overall
cost to Marathon County, which pays disposal and recycling costs
to run the hazardous waste collection facility. However, when
you do have unusable hazardous materials, the collection facility
is the best disposal option.
The permanent facility
takes the place of the Clean Sweep programs which were discontinued
in 1997. Farmers should call the Marathon County Health Department
at (715) 261-1900 to pre-register. There are special grant funds
available to cover the cost of the first 200 pounds of hazardous
materials from Marathon County farmers.
