Produce Affected by Flooding

Severe storms and flooding in midwest and southern Wisconsin left in its wake damaged homes and businesses; damaged and destroyed crops; and people wondering how to handle it all. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has created guidelines that applies to vegetable crops grown both for the fresh market and for freezing/canning. Produce that has come in contact with flood water is considered adulterated and cannot be sold for human or animal consumption. PDF file Produce From Flooded Areas (2 pages, 37 KB)
