On Friday, March 9, 2012 at the 80th Annual Farm/City Dinner, Matt and Tabitha Hartwig, owners of Green Acres Dairy in Athens, WI were named 2012 Outstanding Young Farmers. Selected for their work in conservation, sustainability and involvement in the community.

The annual Farm City Dinner was held Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center. Gary Stankowski of Mosinee was awarded the 2011 Outstanding Young Farmer award. Three other nominees were also recognized at this year’s ceremony. Plus two farm families were honored for maintaining 100 years of continuous farm ownership.

March 5, 2010 — Bruce and Jolene Gumz were selected for the 2010 Outstanding Young Farmer Award at the annual Farm/City Dinner at the Stoney Creek Inn in Rothschild. Two other Outstanding Young Farmer nominees were recognized, as well as four Century Farms and the Farm Progress Days Scholarship was awarded. The dinner featured locally grown food and a live auction with all proceeds going to help fund the Ag Ambassador Intern and the Ag Adventure Tent at the Wisconsin Valley Fair.

Outstanding Young Farmer To be eligible for the Outstanding Young Farmer award, applicants need to be age 37 or younger and receive at least 2/3 of their income from farming.
